This is a course in which we read four novels by four contemporary reknown Latin American women writers: Laura Esquivel, Julia Àlvarez, Isabel Allende y Marcela Serrano. Their novels cover historically the 20th century and the major concerns of Latin American societies in that period.
Conception and development of marketing (segmentation, positioning and the 8 Ps) as it refers to service organizations. Servce Processes, Management of Service Encounters, Customer Behavior in Service Environments, Relationship Marketing and Customer Loyalty, Complaint Handling and Service Recovery, Value Creation for Services, Balance of Demand and Capacity are all topics that are studied.
This course is an introduction to marketing strategy, with emphasis on the process to create, deliver and capture value through marketing research, segmentation, differentiation, targeting and positioning, the marketing mix and development and assessment of the strategic marketing plan. In addition you will survey issues of ethical principles in marketing. Conjoint thinking skills, communication, teamwork, and analytical skills through case discussions and the development of a comprehensive final project are required.
CATALOG DESCRIPTION: MATH 252. ORDINARY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS. An introduction to the theory of ordinary differential equations with an emphasis on methods of solution. Topics include first-order equations, existence and uniqueness, linear equations, equations with constant coefficients, variation of parameters, Laplace transforms, series solutions, systems of equations, numerical methods. Prerequisite: MATH 248 with C or higher required. Credit: four hours.
Topics covered in this course include data collection, descriptive statistics including measures of central tendency and variability, graphical presentation and analysis of data, significance and hypothesis testing. As time allows, analysis of variance, nonparametric tests, regression and or other topics may also be included. The use of statistical software is encouraged, and applications to such diverse areas as business, agriculture, biology, environmental studies, sociology, political science, psychology, and even sports are emphasized.
A continuation of MATH – 151. Topics include techniques and applications of integration, calculus with the exponential and logarithmic functions with applications, integrals and inverse trigonometric functions with applications, indeterminate forms, improper integrals, limit of sequences, and infinite series
CATALOG DESCRIPTION: A continuation of MA- 122, this course includes topics such as the basic properties of differentiable and continuous functions, differentiation and integration of special functions, polar coordinates, parametric curves, vectors and analytic geometry in 3-dimensional space, calculus of functions of several variables, and Fubini’s, Green’s, and Stoke’s Theorems
The course begins with a quick overview of solution of linear equations and inequalities, factorization and simplifying rational expressions. The course continues with the study of the fundamental concepts and operations of algebra in more depth and includes the following topics: graphs, relations and functions, radicals and rational exponents, quadratic equations and functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, absolute value inequalities and complex numbers. Applications of algebraic concepts will be emphasized throughout the course.
The course begins with the arithmetic of signed number. Other topics include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of polynomial and of rational expressions; solution of linear equations; graphing linear equations, solving systems of linear equations and inequalities, exponentiation by integers; factorization; solution of equation involving rational expressions and fractional powers. Applications of algebraic concepts to solve word problems will be emphasized throughout the course to enhance critical thinking skills.
The course covers an overview of information processing and management information systems and the use of information technology to design competitive and efficient organizations. Structured analysis methods, which can be applied to any business system, will be covered. Special emphasis will be placed on the role of the information system specialist as a key agent of support and change within an organization.
